Baseball Game Preview: Washington Warriors vs. Blanchard Lions

Washington is 0-3 against Blanchard since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Washington sitting on four straight wins and Blanchard on 14.

While Washington's victory against Purcell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Dragons on Thursday.

Owen Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Washington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mayson Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Blanchard faced Tuttle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions skirted past the Tigers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 22, 2024.

Blanchard's win was their 29th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
