Recap: Burlington Cougars vs. Limon Badgers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Goodland, the Burlington Cougars were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over Limon. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Burlington also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Burlington was led to victory by Trinitee Holmes and Kiyarra Williams. Holmes scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Williams almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jentri Marx, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Marx hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Jazzy Rosler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Burlington is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Limon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Burlington will be playing at home against Stratton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burlington is coming into the contest with five straight victories at home, so Stratton is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Limon will take on Byers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Limon is facing Byers at the right time seeing as Byers is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
