Football Recap: Cornerstone Christian Cougars vs. Branson Bulls

After flying high against Roseland University Prep last Saturday, Cornerstone Christian came back down to earth. The Cougars had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of the Branson Bulls. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 52-6 to the Bulls when the teams met back in October of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Colby Buxton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 226 yards and five TDs on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Branson. Buxton's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulls' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Branson's leading receiver Spencer Weinberg was Buxton's top target yet again, picking up 82 receiving yards and one score.

Cornerstone Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Branson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
