Basketball Game Preview: Oak Grove Tigers vs. Caldwell Parish Spartans

The Oak Grove Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Caldwell Parish Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oak Grove has ten straight wins, Caldwell Parish has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Oak Grove blew past Union Parish, posting a 49-14 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Caldwell Parish had to suffer through a 54-24 loss at the hands of Mangham. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Dragons are ranked 130th).

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.2 points. As for Caldwell Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Oak Grove came up short against Caldwell Parish when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 53-45. Can Oak Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
