Softball Recap: Fairfield Triumphs

After losing to Manchester the last time they met, Fairfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Greyhounds 4-3.

Rilee Quickle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Manchester, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.

Fairfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Valley on the 22nd. Manchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
