Baseball Recap: Yulee Comes Up Short

Yulee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Nease Golden Panthers. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Yulee got a good showing from Jackson Jones, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Jones has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Yulee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Giovannoni, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Yulee's record is now 6-12. As for Nease, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

Coming up, Yulee will face off against Hilliard at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Flashes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.89 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nease, they will square off against Bartram Trail at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Golden Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
