Baseball Game Preview: Boone Grove Wolves vs. Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats

The Boone Grove Wolves will face off against the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Boone Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Wapahani. The Wolves are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight.

Javy Carrera made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tristan Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Maxwell Truby was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Boone Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wapahani only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, Evansville Mater Dei waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.

Evansville Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Boone Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 26-5.
