Preview: Dacula Falcons vs. Collins Hill Eagles
Dacula has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Collins Hill Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dacula comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Dacula fell victim to Mill Creek's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Hawks. While losing is never fun, Dacula can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Mill Creek is ranked first).
Meanwhile, Collins Hill got themselves on the board against Central Gwinnett on Friday, but Central Gwinnett never followed suit. They blew past the Black Knights 35-0 on the road.
Collins Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tj Wilcox, who threw for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Collins Hill also got a significant boost from Stephen Johnigan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
Dacula's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.0 points per game. As for Collins Hill, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Dacula against Collins Hill in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 48-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dacula since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
