Softball Recap: Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Centennial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Eagles on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sage Nuckols spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Shae Remoket was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Hooker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Centennial, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
