Softball Recap: Hale Ray Has No Trouble Against Old Lyme

Hale Ray barely beat Old Lyme the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Noises were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Wildcats on Thursday. Considering the Noises have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Jahne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maggie Janecek was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Jackie Goetz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Hale Ray hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Hale Ray's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Old Lyme, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Coincidentally, Hale Ray and Old Lyme will both be playing Westbrook the next time they take the field. The Noises will host the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will host them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
