Softball Recap: Narraguagus Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Narraguagus proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jonesport-Beals Royals, sneaking past 4-2. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Natalie Stanwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Narraguagus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Narraguagus pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Jonesport-Beals, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Narraguagus will challenge Sumner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jonesport-Beals, they will take on Machias at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
