Baseball Recap: Wayland Gets the Win

While Wayland's win against Union wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wayland narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Union 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 27, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Bredan Byrne, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Sikkema, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Wayland has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.0 runs this season. As for Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Wayland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Union: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
