Baseball Recap: Cary-Grove Gets the Win

Cary-Grove's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Grant Community Bulldogs 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Jacob Duvall made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duvall was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other pitching news, Braedan Mendro tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Keenan Krysh, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Oskar Freund was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Cary-Grove's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Grant Community, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cary-Grove will take on Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grant Community, they will challenge Lakes at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
