Soccer Game Preview: Dickinson vs. Brazoswood

The Dickinson Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Brazoswood Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dickinson lost 5-1 to Clear Lake on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Falcons are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Brazoswood hadn't done well against Clear Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Brazoswood came out on top in a nail-biter against Clear Springs, sneaking past 2-1. The result kept the Buccaneers happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Jereth Jones-Cruz was the driving force of Brazoswood's attack as he scored both of Brazoswood's goals, bringing his season total up to seven goals.

Dickinson's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3-1. As for Brazoswood, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-0-2 and their overall record up to 9-0-3.
