League recap: Doucet throws longest pass in league this season for Pine Prairie

Dylan Doucet and Douglas Fontenot provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Archbishop Hannan. The connection went for zero yards, the longest such play in 2A District 5 this season.

Iota moved up to 268 from 294 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 16-12 win over Oberlin helped the Bulldogs improve their standing.

Isaiah Thomas and Jermarcus Jones gave Ville Platte a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Thomas threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while Jones ran for 107 yards. Teammate Benjamin Joseph added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.

Gijuan Anderson was the best wideout in the league this week as Pine Prairie lost to the Hawks. Anderson racked up four receptions for 84 yards. Fontenot helped Pine Prairie's passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.

Ville Platte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 766 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Justin Charles has 19 catches for 270 yards. Jones leads the league in rushing with 474 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mamou takes on the Bulldogs. The Demons are currently in fifth, while Ville Platte is in first.

Iota made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,655 from 13,838. The improvement came about via a 16-12 victory over the Tigers last week.
