Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Hershey

Hershey won against Bishop McDevitt last Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Trojans won by a run and slipped past the Carlisle Thundering Herd 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since March 18th.

Sean Callahan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Bennett Sheppard was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Grant Later also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hershey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Hershey's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carlisle, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hershey will host Palmyra at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carlisle, they will welcome Bishop McDevitt at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
