Guilford has gone 9-1 against Hand recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Grizzlies will face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Guilford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Hand will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Guilford extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Grizzlies came out on top against West Haven by a score of 8-4.
Sarah O'Brien spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ella Munson was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kennadie Tansey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Hand earned a 5-1 victory over Wilton on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
The team relied heavily on Bianca Pasquinelli, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Dusza, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The win got Hand back to even at 6-6. As for Guilford, their record now sits at 7-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Guilford hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hand struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Guilford was able to grind out a solid victory over Hand in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
