With a playoff win on the line, Smith Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mineral County Serpents, sneaking past 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Serpents: they've now won three in a row.

Luke Lannom made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Lannom was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brysen Walston was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gaston Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Smith Valley's record now sits at 20-3. As for Mineral County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-9.

Smith Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-15 victory against Liberty Baptist Academy on the 15th. Mineral County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
