Basketball Recap: Eustace Comes Up Short

Eustace extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-14. They lost 50-25 to Edgewood. While losing is never fun, Eustace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 975th, while Edgewood is ranked 470th).

As for Edgewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points on average over those games.

Edgewood found their leader in freshman Hannah Mulligan, who posted 12 points along with eight steals and five assists. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for Mulligan. Henlee Harper was another key player, putting up ten points.

Eustace didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-47 loss against Malakoff on the 16th. As for Edgewood, they have also already played their next contest, a 44-26 defeat against Mineola on the 16th.
