Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

Union lost against Grantsville on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Union Cougars had to suffer through a 71-29 loss at the hands of the Grantsville Cowboys. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-16.

Despite the defeat, Union had strong showings from Payzlei Parrish, who posted 11 points and six boards, and LYDIA HOSCHOUER, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Grantsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Baylee Lowder, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. What's more, Lowder also racked up seven assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Allred, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 20 points and six steals.

Union's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Grantsville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Union didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-25 win against Ben Lomond on the 28th. As for Grantsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-34 defeat against Ridgeline on the 27th.
