Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria City Titans vs. South County Stallions

Alexandria City and South County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Alexandria City Titans will face off against the South County Stallions at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Alexandria City has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while South County will arrive with six straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Alexandria City took a blow against Lake Braddock, falling 75-47. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Bruins are ranked 130th).

Alexandria City's defeat came about despite a quality game from Tarik Sesay, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Octavius Miller Jr was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday South County sidestepped Fairfax for a 39-36 win. The 39-point effort marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Alexandria City's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for South County, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Alexandria City didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against South County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win.
