Baseball Game Preview: Harding Academy Lions vs. Memphis Central Warriors

The Harding Academy Lions will square off against the Memphis Central Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Harding Academy has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 3.

Harding Academy came up short against First Assembly Christian on Tuesday, falling 12-2.

Meanwhile, Memphis Central never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Kingsbury. Considering the Warriors have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Beiker Leon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Memphis Central got a massive performance out of Patrick Ryan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Ryan a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Tyler Yates, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Memphis Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Memphis Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Harding Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
