Softball Game Preview: Sitka Wolves vs. Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears

For the second straight game, Sitka will face off against Juneau-Douglas. The Wolves will square off against the Crimson Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sitka has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sitka is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Juneau-Douglas, who was ranked seventh at the time (Sitka was ranked sixth). The Wolves came up short against the Crimson Bears on Friday, falling 15-6. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Juneau-Douglas' part, Bryanna Eakes was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Eakes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

The victory (which was Juneau-Douglas' fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-13-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Sitka, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13-4.
