Softball Game Preview: Silver Lake Eagles vs. Haven Wildcats

The Silver Lake Eagles will challenge the Haven Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Silver Lake is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Silver Lake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Colby get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Silver Lake, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Haven faced off against Baxter Springs on Monday. The Wildcats walked away with an 8-3 win over the Lions.

Avery Brawner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige O'Neal, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Caeli Hunninghake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Silver Lake's record is now 23-4. As for Haven, their record now sits at 24-2.

Silver Lake was able to grind out a solid victory over Haven in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, winning 7-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
