Baseball Recap: Churubusco Find Success

After losing to Central Noble the last time they met, Churubusco decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eagles came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 9-6 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Cameron Patten made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Patten was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Churubusco: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mason Mast was a standout: he earned two RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Knott, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Churubusco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Churubusco's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 7-17. As for Central Noble, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Churubusco beat Central Noble by a score of 4-3 later that day.
