Baseball Recap: Wakulla Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wakulla had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Madison County Cowboys. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the War Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2025.

Jackson Lawhon got the start for Wakulla and what a start it was: he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs but no hits. Blaine Barnes relieved him and did a solid job, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Kendall Wimes and Cason Marlow did most of the damage at the plate: Wimes went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Marlow went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Kless, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Wakulla now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Madison County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wakulla will challenge North Florida Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison County, they will take on Dixie County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
