Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Larsen and Donetta Vaavale Secure Win for Chaputnguak

Chaputnguak proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 45) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Akiuk Memorial Grizzlies 36-34. This was payback for the Shaman, who suffered a 45-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Chaputnguak to victory were Donetta Vaavale and MacKenzie Larsen. Vaavale posted 13 points, while Larsen had 12 points.

Chaputnguak now has a winning record of 2-1.

Chaputnguak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-48 win against Nelson Island on the 25th. Akiuk Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
