Basketball Game Preview: Abilene Eagles vs. Wylie Bulldogs

Abilene hasn't had much luck against Wylie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Abilene Eagles will head out to take on the Wylie Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Abilene was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to Legacy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Leopards are ranked 729th).

Meanwhile, Wylie came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Leopards 50-31.

Wylie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Abilene, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-13.

Abilene lost to Wylie on the road by a decisive 52-34 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Abilene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
