Volleyball Recap: Pope Has No Trouble Against Mount Pisgah Christian

Pope barely beat Mount Pisgah Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greyhounds blew past the Patriots 3-0 on Thursday. The game marked the Greyhounds' most dominant win of the season so far.

Pope's got stronger as the match went on, holding Mount Pisgah Christian to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17, 25-14.

Pope's offense was headlined by Gretchen Eichelzer and Emmy Chadwick, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Jahan Lalli and her 28 assists. Wynnie Abney controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Mount Pisgah Christian still got an impressive performance from Maddie Cuppia, who had ten digs and two aces. Sophia Nasieku also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Pope pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Pope will take on Milton in a tournament on Saturday. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they will take on Alpharetta at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
