Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greensburg Salem). They put the hurt on the Valley Vikings with a sharp 19-1 victory on Tuesday. The Golden Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
Sammie Reusser made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Reusser was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Greensburg Salem got a massive performance out of Hannah Olbeter, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Olbeter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cate Waugaman, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Greensburg Salem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Greensburg Salem pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
