Softball Game Preview: Victoria West Warriors vs. Fort Bend Kempner Cougars

The Victoria West Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Victoria West has three straight wins, Fort Bend Kempner has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Victoria West's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Lamar Consolidated's usually-dominant pitching crew. Victoria West blew past Lamar Consolidated 12-6.

Celeste Kubicek was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Victoria West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lamar Consolidated only posted an OBP of .421.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Kempner came up short against Victoria East on Tuesday, falling 19-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 18 runs.

The victory got Victoria West back to even at 10-10. As for Fort Bend Kempner, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
