Starmount extends home winning streak to three

Recap: Starmount Rams vs. Alleghany Trojans

The Starmount Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 66-53 win over Alleghany. The victory was nothing new for Starmount as they're now sitting on three straight.

Starmount found their leader in underclassman Molly Swaim, who scored 34 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swaim has scored all season. Carley Money was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.

Alleghany's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elizabeth Collins, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Collins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paula Martinez, who scored 17 points.

Even though they lost, Alleghany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their 14th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Starmount pushed their record up to 6-15 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Alleghany, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Starmount has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome South Stokes at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Starmount has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
