League recap: Los Lunas extends winning streak with victory over Belen

Los Lunas extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 6 this week by beating Belen, 40-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Tigers.

Grants was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Miyamura. The Pirates came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

The Patriots' Zach Shank and Anthony Esquibel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shank has thrown for 1258 yards this season, while Esquibel has 23 catches for 339 yards. Los Lunas' Jalen Chavez leads the league in rushing yards with 621.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Jeremy Newton's team and Grants. The Tigers enters the game ranked third in the state, while Dale Hooper's team ranks 25th.

Los Lunas took down the Eagles 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
