Greater Catholic league recap: 5/14/12

Greater Catholic's longest active winning streak belongs to Badin (18-7, 8-3), undefeated over its last 10 games. In the past week, the Rams won another two games, including a 10-0 victory over Preble Shawnee. Zach Gray led the lineup this week with zero hits and zero RBIs.

Behind a 2-0 record over the past week, Bishop Fenwick made the biggest jump in the Ohio state rankings, all the way from 298 to 236.

St. Xavier, the season leader in runs scored at 173, added to its total with a league-high 34 runs this week. Conor Hundley is the team leader in runs scored with 28, while Joe Gellenbeck has driven in a team-best 24 runs with his bat.

St. Xavier stole 18 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 64 steals on the year. Hundley's 25 steals make him the biggest threat on the basepaths for the Bombers, which is running wild under the direction of manager Bill Slinger.

St. Xavier's Gellenbeck finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. He is first in the league with 24 hits this year, and has a .387 batting average.
