Football Game Preview: Wake Forest Cougars vs. East Wake Warriors + How To Watch

The Wake Forest Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the East Wake Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wake Forest's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Vance County 53-0. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Micah Olu was his usual excellent self, rushing for 102 yards and five TDs. He is becoming a predictor of Wake Forest's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Stefen Tabon was another key back, rushing for 122 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but East Wake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 34-28 W over Heritage.

Wake Forest better keep an eye on Maurice Maloy. He was instrumental in East Wake's win, throwing for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 38 yards.

East Wake's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Wake Forest, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4.
