Basketball Recap: Waterloo West Drops Season-High Score on Columbus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterloo West). Everything went their way against the Columbus Sailors on Saturday as the Waterloo West Wahawks made off with a 77-57 win. Given the Wahawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Sailors are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waterloo West's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Columbus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterloo West will face off against Hempstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hempstead has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Columbus, they will look to defend their home court on February 18th against Hudson.
