Basketball Recap: Falkner Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ashland last Friday, Falkner came back down to earth. The Falkner Eagles lost 68-48 to the Wheeler Eagles on Monday. Falkner has struggled against Wheeler recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Wheeler's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Sanford, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Sanford continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate Beckham, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 17 points.

Falkner's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Wheeler, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Falkner will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mantachie at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Wheeler, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Itawamba Agricultural at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
