Basketball Recap: Arvada West Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Arvada West hadn't done well against Ralston Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Arvada West Wildcats strolled past the Ralston Valley Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 56-37. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 58-36 loss the last time these two teams met.

Arvada West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Harrison out in front who posted eight points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Sara Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Ralston Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Santana Sabus scored 16 points and six boards. Sabus' afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Khloee Akens was another key player, putting up five points.

Arvada West pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Ralston Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Arvada West will square off against Columbine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbine will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Arvada West surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ralston Valley, they will challenge Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ralston Valley is facing Bear Creek at the right time seeing as Bear Creek is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
