It was a good run, but Buchanan unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Elk Grove Thundering Herd by a score of 10-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 13-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

Buchanan's loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Elk Grove, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Buchanan and Elk Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bears (ranked 11th) will meet Clovis West (ranked 94th) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Buchanan 3.2, the Golden Eagles 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Elk Grove will take on Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (71 vs. 646).
