Basketball Recap: Palmetto Takes a Loss

Palmetto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 83-55 loss at the hands of the Powdersville Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Patriots are ranked 48th).

When it comes to explaining why Palmetto lost, don't look at Xaden Stokes. Despite the final result, he went 14 for 25 en route to 31 points and seven boards. Kohen Wright was another key player, putting up five points and ten assists.

It was another big night for Quan Burton, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds for Powdersville. Burton's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaleel McGee, who posted eight points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Palmetto's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Powdersville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Palmetto has already played their next match, a 67-61 defeat against St. Joseph's Catholic on the 31st. As for Powdersville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-44 victory against Carolina Academy on the 31st.
