Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for La Sierra

La Sierra extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 9-11 in the process. They came out on top against the Norte Vista Braves by a score of 9-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 22-5 win on Tuesday.

Anais Romero was excellent, getting a hit.

As for Norte Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17-1 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it 11 in a row.

On Norte Vista's side, Nicole Cline was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Cline was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Angelina Mercado was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Grace Cervantes, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Sierra will face off against Santiago at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Norte Vista, they will challenge Jurupa Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
