Softball Recap: Kentridge Takes a Loss

Kentridge has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.33 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 11-5 to the Stadium Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered since March 15, 2024.

Jozi Thompson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kenzie Coble made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Naomi Benavides, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Kentridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Stadium, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kentridge will challenge Auburn Riverside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Stadium, they will face off against Auburn at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
