Basketball Recap: Lawson Comes Up Short

Lawson lost against North Platte back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lawson Cardinals took a hard 51-37 fall against the North Platte Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Panthers are ranked 111th).

Defeat or not, Lawson got some senior leadership from Andrew Phipps and Isaac Willoughby. Phipps went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Willoughby went 7 for 15 to rack up 18 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Lawson and nudges their season record down to 8-15. As for North Platte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Coming up, Lawson will take on Penney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Platte, they will be playing at home against Lathrop at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
