L.C. Bird is a perfect 6-0 against Matoaca since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Matoaca Warriors at 6:00 p.m. L.C. Bird knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Matoaca likes a good challenge.
L.C. Bird is returning to their home court after beating Cosby on theirs, despite the fact Cosby has dominated at home this season. L.C. Bird took down Cosby 65-50 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

L.C. Bird's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sasha Hodge, who went 5-for-8 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Hodge a new career-high in shooting accuracy (63%). Kamari Simon was another key player, putting up 11 points and six steals.
L.C. Bird smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Matoaca hadn't done well against Midlothian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Matoaca enjoyed a cozy 54-37 victory over Midlothian.
Matoaca found their leader in freshman Kailah Carter, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 24 points and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least a third of Matoaca's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Richardson, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 14 points and six steals.
L.C. Bird's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Matoaca, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: L.C. Bird has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Matoaca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for L.C. Bird against Matoaca in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 50-21 win. Will L.C. Bird repeat their success, or does Matoaca have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
