Baseball Game Preview: Maywood CES Wolfpack vs. Marquez Gladiators

Maywood CES has gone 8-2 against Marquez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolfpack will host the Gladiators at 3:00 p.m. Maywood CES will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Maywood CES' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Maywood Academy with a sharp 28-0 win. Considering the Wolfpack have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brian Aguirre got the start for Maywood CES and what a start it was: he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Aguirre has posted since back in March.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Marquez and Torres had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Gladiators fell just short of the Toros by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Gladiators have lost by just one run.

Maywood CES has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Marquez, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Maywood CES got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Marquez by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Gladiators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
