            Baseball Recap: East Bakersfield Blades vs. South Spartans        
        
		
        
        
            East Bakersfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against South  on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. That's two games in a row now that the Blades have lost by  exactly four  runs.

 ESIAH SANTIAGO put in work no matter where he played. He  struck out 13 batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   two  hits. SANTIAGO was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. East Bakersfield is 2-1 when  SANTIAGO posts two or  more  stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise.
 In other batting news,  KANE CALVILLO was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
East Bakersfield has also been struggling recently as they've  lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record  this season. As for South, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 10-5.
While East Bakersfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
