Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

The matchup between Cornerstone Baptist Academy and Emmanuel Christian on Tuesday hardly resembled the 36-23 effort from their previous meeting. The Cornerstone Baptist Academy Eagles took a blow against the Emmanuel Christian Eagles, falling 77-33. Cornerstone Baptist Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.

Emmanuel Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Kirtlan, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 21 boards. That's the most rebounds Kirtlan has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion McKnight, who earned 15 points and six steals.

Cornerstone Baptist Academy's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Emmanuel Christian, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Cornerstone Baptist Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bible Baptist on February 20th. As for Emmanuel Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-59 win against Legacy Christian Academy on the 7th.
