Softball Preview: West Albany Bulldogs vs. Lebanon Warriors
The West Albany Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Lebanon Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Things were looking good for West Albany after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Dallas, falling 11-1. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lebanon and Corvallis meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Warriors blew past the Spartans 16-5.
Genevieve Osburg spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She also set a new season-high mark in doubles with three.
On the hitting side, Tatum Cole was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Payten Daggett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lebanon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
West Albany's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lebanon, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.
West Albany suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Lebanon when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
