Softball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Has No Trouble Against Kaiser

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Rancho Cucamonga and Kaiser, and Rancho Cucamonga kept the tradition alive. Everything went the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars' way against the Kaiser Cats on Monday as the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars made off with a 9-1 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Natalie Carmona spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anaya Burley, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

Rancho Cucamonga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kaiser only posted a batting average of .200.

Rancho Cucamonga now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Kaiser, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Rancho Cucamonga will square off against Sultana at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Sultana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Kaiser, they will be taking part in a tournament against Arcadia at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
