Football Recap: Northwestern Gets the Win

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Northwestern ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 20-19 photo finish over the Coral Gables Cavaliers. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Bulls were the better team in the second half.

Jade Yacinthe had an outrageously good game as she rushed for 73 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 169 yards and one TD.

Coral Gables' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hannah Pascul-Florez, who threw for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Semra Obuz, who picked up 65 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Northwestern pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games. As for Coral Gables, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Northwestern has already played their next match, a 26-0 win against Hialeah on the 9th. As for Coral Gables, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 19-6 defeat against Homestead on the 9th.
